DeLonghi Dual Coffee Machine

This all-in-one, fully automatic specialty coffee maker is user-friendly, versatile, and convenient for those just starting on their custom drink journey. Personal espresso and coffee makers have become a must for those putting in long hours in the home office.

The best part about all-in-ones is their multi-usage. This dual technology allows you to create all sorts of custom drinks, from cappuccinos to hot chocolates, to accommodate all of your family’s tastes.

Not all coffee and espresso makers are created equal, however. Some are much more suited to one person’s tastes and lifestyle than another’s. You might be satisfied with a simple drip coffee maker with a few extra fun features, or you may require something more sophisticated.

If you’re not sure whether the Delonghi BCO430 is for you, keep reading. We’ve compiled all of the most important details about this coffee maker to help you decide if this is the combination coffee and espresso maker you need in your life.

DeLonghi BCO430 Review

The DeLonghi BCO430 is an all-in-one coffee and espresso maker. It has an advanced cappuccino system and is designed for mid-ground coffee. However, this machine does not take K-cups; it brews a solid cup of joe from coffee you have to pre-ground yourself (as this machine does not come with a built-in coffee grinder).

As a coffee machine, it works simply and elegantly. Just like most others you’ve used, you put the grounds on one side (with a useful permanent filter) and pour water into the tank. You can program it up to 24 hours in advance, never having to wait by the pot.

The DeLonghi BCO430 also can make espresso, cappuccinos, and lattes exactly to your preference with the milk frother wand. We’ll go into more detail later just how perfect this wand is for meeting specific coffee tastes, but just know it’s a huge plus of this machine.

While this fully automatic machine is great for convenience, it doesn’t produce complex flavors like some other coffee machines. You can’t manipulate the nuances of your cup, but you can make it quickly and easily.

Here, we break down this combination coffee and espresso machine, so you know exactly how the DeLonghi BCO430 performs and if it’s the right one for you.

Design & Build Quality 4.5/5

The DeLonghi BCO430 has a sleek and modern look that will make a great addition to any kitchen aesthetic. Its stainless steel accents are eye-catching and well suited to complement your other appliances. The interface is user-friendly, with buttons that are easy to understand and use.

It’s well suited for those who move often or like to rearrange their space, as it’s one of the lightest all-in-ones on the market right now. It’s small enough to fit into tighter spaces. Because all of its features are in the front, you’ll never have to worry about covering them up.

The espresso maker and coffee brewer are on either side of the machine, each with its own water tank. This makes it so you can use them at the same time. The right side can brew up to 10 cups of coffee at once, while the left side also contains a milk frother and a warming tray.

Don’t worry if you forgot that you put a pot of coffee on. There’s also a warming function that keeps your pot hot for up to two hours, so even if you get lost in a project, you can come back to a warm, comforting cup of joe.

The DeLonghi BCO430 offers a fantastic design for the modern kitchen or office. It’s incredibly well made with high-quality materials. It is not the most durable of the DeLonghi coffee makers, but it should last you a long time if you clean it regularly and treat it well.

Performance 3.5/5

The DeLonghi BCO430 brews a good cup of coffee, but it doesn’t make the best espresso out there. It’s fine for someone looking to get a quick caffeine boost at home, but coffee connoisseurs may be left unsatisfied.

This is because the lightweight espresso tamper makes it hard to pack the grounds together, making the shots weak and even watery. However, you can easily upgrade this product with a stainless steel tamper to improve your espresso experience.

While the coffee the DeLonghi BCO430 brews is rich and tasty, the flavor of the coffee is often inconsistent. Additionally, the “Aroma” button (which saturates the coffee grounds differently) doesn’t seem to make much of a difference in taste.

However, the manual milk frother more than makes up for it. You decide the amount of foam or steamed milk you get, as well as the richness of that foam. You control the creaminess of the froth so that you can make the perfect cappuccinos for your preference.

This is perfect for those who want to develop their skills in making specialty drinks. There’s a lot of room to express your passion for custom coffees. We encourage you to play around with the DeLonghi BCO430 and see what caffeine creations you can come up with.

While your cup of coffee may not always taste the same, it will always be delicious as will your homemade lattes and cappuccinos once you get the hang of the milk frother. There’s a lot of potential in the performance DeLonghi BCO430; just make you take advantage of it!

Ease of Use 4/5

This machine is incredibly user-friendly, which makes it great for beginner home-baristas. All of the buttons you need are front and center and the water tanks for easy fill.

The DeLonghi BCO430 can be complicated to maintain, however. You have to clean the milk frother after every use. You also need to deep clean it about every 300 hundred coffees, an involved process described in detail in the manual.

While you don’t have to descale it often because of its carbon filter, that’s something that should be done every 200 drinks or so. The upside is the espresso machine has a cleaning cycle that tells you when it’s time to clean out your coffee maker, so you don’t have to keep track of how many drinks you’ve made since the last wash.

Aside from cleaning, this machine is extraordinarily simple to use. Just load your coffee grounds and water into either side, set the timer to when you want a fresh cup, and wait! The timer is easy to set, so you can set it up in advance without having to worry if you did it right (because nothing is worse than expecting fresh coffee and finding only air in the pot.)

As for specialty drinks, there really isn’t a better starter option. While it may take you a few tries to get the creaminess of the foam and the level of froth just right, you’ll be an expert at making cappuccino espressos in no time.

Features 5/5

The DeLonghi BCO430 comes with many of the best features you’ll find in an all-in-one. For starters, the active carbon filters reduce the lead particles in the water, so less funky stuff develops in your coffee machine. The anti-chlorine filter also prevents you from ingesting any unwanted chemicals in your coffee.

The dual reservoirs allow you to brew drip coffee and espresso simultaneously, which makes it great for entertaining guests and hosting big brunches. The preset programs make it easy to whip something up, even if you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for that morning.

Unfortunately, this great feature is partially canceled out by the lack of multiple boilers. So while you can make a shot of espresso when the coffee pot is on, you have to wait to make a specialty drink.

The espresso features on this coffee and espresso machine hold up. With a fifteen-bar pump, it’s right in the sweet spot for making great-tasting espresso. The manual milk frothing system allows you to customize your foam from the amount you want to the quality you need.

A handy cup warming tray is the cherry on top of this machine. It passively heats your mug to make sure your specialty drink is as enjoyable as possible. Though it might not seem like a big deal, a warm cup can be the difference between a good latte and a great latte.

Looking at all of the features together, you really can’t find a coffee maker that combines so many options anywhere else.

Value for Money 4/5

This coffee and espresso machine is typically between $250-$300, making it pricier than similar options on the market. While it is a little expensive for the beginner at-home coffee consumer, the features and ease of use make the cost worth it.

The fact that it is lightweight and can be accommodated into most spaces is another reason it’s worth investing in. It’s simple to learn, easy to use, and a great place to start for beginners.

Replacement parts for this machine, should it break, are cheap and easy to find. Keep in mind that you will have to buy a separate coffee grinder if you prefer freshly ground coffee, making this less of a better deal.

Honestly, for the price, we would expect to have a grinder or at least another boiler. At the very least, we’d like the aroma option to pack a little more punch. It’s kind of a bummer that this coffee maker is so expensive, and one of its most attractive features isn’t very effective.

On the one hand, you can probably find a better bang for your buck elsewhere. On the other hand, this versatile little machine has many great features in a lightweight package that’s incredibly user-friendly.

All in all, we’d say that the DeLonghi BCO430 is good value for your money. It’s a worthwhile buy if you can swing the price.

Overall Score: 4.5/5

Considering all of the above criteria, we give the DeLonghi BCO430 four out of five stars. While its features are top-notch and easy to use, it’s difficult to clean, and the performance is lacking in a few important places.

Despite the few issues this combination coffee and espresso machine has, it’s a worthy coffee maker. It’s great for beginners and seasoned latte lovers alike. It’s fantastic for entertaining and making drinks for family and friends. The versatility really sets it apart from other coffee and espresso makers.

We’re sure this is a solid coffee maker that will make a difference in your working from home life. Not only that, it’ll save you hundreds of dollars of coffee-shop drinks.

The DeLonghi BCO430 is a worthy investment for those ready to say goodbye to paying for pre-made coffees. If we’ve learned one thing, it’s that we could be stuck in our homes at any time. Don’t get caught without caffeine. Do yourself a favor and buy a DeLonghi BCO43 and become the barista you’ve always wanted to be.

Who it’s Not For

Those looking for a built-in grinder in their all-in-one will find the DeLonghi BCO430 lacking. Espresso connoisseurs won’t find the highest quality espresso their tastes might demand. You may also find that the flavor is too inconsistent for you to enjoy continually.

If you’re experienced in making your own specialty coffees, you may need to find something of a higher caliber. The preset programs will probably only through you off if you’re someone who likes to manipulate all of the details of your coffee experience.

If you don’t have a lot of extra time to spend cleaning this coffee maker, you may need to go with a lower maintenance option. The milk frother has to be cleaned every time, and the pieces of the machine must be taken out and cleaned individually. If you’re already cringing at the amount of work this sounds like, try something less time-consuming.

If you’re on a strict budget, you may be able to find something of a similar caliber at a more affordable price. However, keep in mind the unique features this coffee machine has when looking at other options. You may find that the price isn’t too much to compromise on when you get all of the great things it comes with.
